Spring Blissful Ridge Lodge Micro Wedding

With the best views in the Hocking Hills, Blissful Ridge Lodge charms visitors with its unique architecture. The Among the Trees Lodging company features the Lodge, treehouses and an additional 87 acres of wooded forest close to Rockbridge State Nature Preserve. The venue made the perfect location for Candace and James’ May Micro Wedding.

My day got started with detail photos in and around the venue. Sherri’s Hair and Nail Salon provided hair services and Katilyn Boyer provided makeup services. Family Tree Florist made the bouquet, boutonnieres, tabletop flower designs and altar arrangement. J’s Sweet Treats and Wedding Cakes made the cake and Treehouse Treats and Treasures made the Oreo treats. Candace’s dress was a Galina Signature design from David’s Bridal. James’ suit came from Men’s Warehouse. Their rings were purchased at Majestic Jewelers in Valparaiso, IN.

During the processional, James’ son delivered the rings and Candace’s father walked her to the altar to an acoustic guitar cover of the Princess Bride theme performed by Uncle Glenn Welch. Candace’s twin brother, Lt. Nathan Welch of The Salvation Army, served as officiant. The couple included The Cord of Three Strands unity ritual in their ceremony. One strand represented James, one Candace, and the other, God. This imagery is based on scripture in Ecclesiastes 4:12: “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

At the reception, the couple enjoyed catering by The Olde Dutch Restaurant. James’ best friend offered a toast at dinner. The couple danced their first dance to Inevitable by Anberlin. The double Father/Daughter & Mother/Son dance was to Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline.

Following the bubble exit at the reception, Candace, James and I traveled to Old Man’s Cave. They originally planned on having their ceremony by a waterfall in Hocking Hills State Park. But due to COVID restrictions, they compromised and had their ceremony at the lodge with portraits taken at Upper Falls afterward.

Please enjoy some of my favorite photos from their wedding day!
