Liberty Lodge is a rustic horse ranch sitting on 50 acres of rolling land. The estate made the perfect location for Madison + Joseph’s June Micro Wedding.
Madison and Joseph met in 2015 at an ice cream shop where Madison worked. “I broke through the cup, spilling ice-cream all down my arm! He got my number from a co-worker and we began texting until we met up for the first time,” Madison said of their sweet connection.
Inspired by Maddy’s love of aviation, Joseph proposed in a beautiful and fun way. “I took my dad for his first flight with me at our local airport. When I landed, my family and Joe were standing there to welcome us back down to Earth. Joe said he wanted a picture with me in front of the plane. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and it was perfect,” Madison said.
When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple knew a small destination wedding in the Hocking Hills would be perfect for them. The found Liberty Lodge and Serenity Ridge (next door to the Lodge) on Airbnb. Personal Touch Party Rentals & Events provided the tables and chairs for the reception. The Smoked Food Factory was running late on their catering order so the couple ordered some pizzas to keep everyone fed and happy. Bud’s Diner provided the pies. Maddy and Joe chose “Hearts Content” by Brandi Carlile as their first dance song.
The couple’s other vendors included Fancy Petals for the bouquet, B Loved Bridal for Maddison’s dress (the bridesmaids all chose their own dresses), Stambaugh Jewelers for Madison’s ring (Joseph’s is his late grandfather’s), and Alex Harmata acted as the officiant.
During the ceremony, they performed a “Unity Box” ceremony where they “put little things that signify our 6-year relationship into a metal box,” said Maddy. She continued, “We will write letters to each other to open on our one-year anniversary and continue the tradition throughout our marriage.”
Also worth noting, Madison kept a special heirloom with her throughout the day. “I am carrying my great grandmother’s hanky that my great aunt, aunts, mother, and grandmother carried on their wedding days,” she said.
