frequently asked questions

After discussing date availability, I will send you a booking link with a questionnaire, contract, and invoice. For weddings and elopements, I require a non-refundable deposit of half the total fee to hold the date. The remaining half of the balance is due no later than one month before the event. For engagement and portrait sessions the full fee is due to hold the date.
How do I book?
Yes, I often travel for weddings and love capturing you and your partner in meaningful locations. Travel fees are extra to cover costs and depend on location.
Do you travel?
Sure! I have photographed weddings all over the Hocking Hills, Ohio and the US. I can recommend a location and the best time to catch the most beautiful light. Planning help is included in my packages.
Do you help plan?
Yes, I often photograph intimate weddings, elopements, and couples sessions at cabins and lodges in the Hocking Hills area.
Can you come to my cabin/lodge for photos?
For weddings with six hours or less coverage, I shoot solo. For full day weddings with eight hours of coverage, I work with a second shooter.
Do you work solo?
The Complimentary Engagement Session cannot be traded for more wedding day coverage. Complimentary engagement sessions are an excellent way to get to know each other before the wedding. I offer the sessions free for couples with four-plus hours of wedding coverage because the day goes smoother if we have some practice together.
Can I skip the complimentary engagement session and get an hour credited to my wedding coverage?
Yes, I started as a family photographer and still offer some sessions, depending on how bustling my wedding calendar is. During slower times of the year, like winter and spring, I have more availability for family photos. I also prioritize (and discount) family sessions for returning clients.
Do you photograph families?
Yes, all of the packages include planning help and vendor recommendations. After booking, I can send you a list of vendors and any other service you need to plan for the perfect wedding, elopement, or session.
Can you recommend a videographer, hairstylist, etc.?
Yes, I offer a one-hour Wedding Portrait package for folks who want photos taken in their wedding outfits but don't need other photo coverage. The Wedding Portrait package cannot be used for ceremony coverage or family/group photos.
I am having a courthouse ceremony in another location. Do you offer wedding portraits?
Family and group photos average about thirty minutes in length. Group photos can take as little as ten minutes for small and intimate gatherings. Big weddings with sizeable extended family photos and friend groupings can take an hour to complete. Before your wedding, I'll ask for a list of groups to keep these photos moving as quickly as possible.
How much time should I allow for family/group photos?
Within twenty-four hours of your wedding, elopement, or session, I will send you a link to view and download an Extended Preview. The number of photos in the preview varies from client to client. Full galleries for portrait sessions and smaller weddings/elopements are typically delivered two to four weeks after the event but, at the very latest, within thirty days. Intimate and Full Day Weddings with more hourly coverage require more editing time and are usually delivered four to six weeks after the event. But at the very latest, within sixty days. In addition to the shareable online gallery, I mail the photos on a wooden USB flash drive in a keepsake box. Full Day Wedding clients receive a complimentary 10x10 inch custom photo book. Please allow four to eight weeks for book design, printing, and delivery. Family photos, Mini-Sessions, and other Miscellaneous Sessions follow a different timeline for delivery and typically receive their photos in an online gallery only.
What is the process for getting my photos?
Yes, I often photograph surprise proposals! I can recommend locations and the best time to capture the proposal. I also send tips for stress-free planning.
Do you photograph surprise proposals?
If you are running late, I will wait for you in the planned meeting location and devise some options to make the best use of the remaining time. I will not stay later than the previously agreed-upon End Time if you are running late for a session or elopement.
What happens if I am late to my session or elopement?
What if I need you to stay later than contracted for my wedding?
Sometimes, a wedding timeline gets off course and pushes everything later than expected. If things are running so late that you need me to stay past the contracted End Time, I can check in, and we can devise a plan. Something may get cut from your photo timeline (like a sparkler exit). If you decide to keep me past the contracted time, the fee is $500 plus tax per extra hour. The invoice for this fee will be due within twenty-four hours and, if left unpaid, will delay delivery time for the Extended Preview
Hocking Hills State Park is getting busier and busier. You can increase your chances of finding a quiet area in the park by scheduling your photos for a weekday or avoiding mid-day altogether. Still, it's a public park, and people will be around you enjoying the views and nature. Most of the time, I will find a spot with limited traffic. But if people wander into the backgrounds of your photos, I will Photoshop them out.
I want to get married in Hocking Hills State Park, but I don't want people in the background of my photos. Will you help?
No, Hocking Hills State Park is a public park, and visitors will come and go during your ceremony. Increase your chances of finding a quiet area in the park by scheduling your ceremony for a weekday or avoid the high traffic times. But the permit doesn't restrict public use traffic. Instead, the permit allows you to gather a limited number of guests in a particular location. You'll also find other stipulations on your permit application. For example, you may not bring in chairs, seating, rugs, candles, and altars for your ceremony, restricting the general public from enjoying the park or causing safety concerns.
I applied for permit to have my ceremony in Hocking Hills State Park so I will get to use the entire area for my event, correct?
Yes, I love animals, and they are always welcome to come for sessions or be a part of your wedding photos. I recommend quiet, pet-friendly locations that won't stress you or your fur baby out.
Can I bring my dog or cat?
Yes, I usually start portrait photos by setting you up in a location with an exciting background. Once there, I'll take traditional images of you looking at the camera. After we get those photos out of the way, I use a combination of prompts, actions, and saved poses that elicit genuine emotional reactions and movement.
I'm awkward. Will you help me pose?
I recommend scheduling engagement photos at least two months before your wedding date. That way, I'll have your package edited and delivered to you, and you can use the images for wedding decor and details.
