Q1-How far from Hocking Hills State Park do you live?

A1- I live just 20 minutes away. It’s truly my backyard, meaning I’m always ready to head into the hills for an adventure or scout the perfect light for your day.

Q2- How long have you been visiting the park?

A2-Nearly my entire life! I’m 45 now and have been exploring these woods since childhood. One of my earliest core memories is from when I was about five, crawling into one of the kid-sized honeycomb openings in Old Man’s Cave Gorge.

Q3-How did you get started photographing elopements here?

A3-It started as a path back to myself. After leaving a museum job in Columbus, I moved back to the Hocking Hills feeling incredibly unhappy. I took a part-time library job, started devouring books again, and realized I needed to hike for my physical and mental well-being.
I began taking solo hikes, camera in hand. When people saw my nature photos, they asked for portraits. I actively avoided weddings at first, feeling underqualified for such high stakes. Then Glenlaurel Inn called with an emergency—their photographer couldn’t make it to an elopement. I stepped in, had the absolute best time, and that couple became lifelong clients. From that single afternoon, my confidence grew and I found my bliss.

Q4-What inspires you?

A4-Nature and light are my primary muses, but I am equally inspired by collaboration. Having gone to art school, I used to think creative partnering was just how everyone interacted. Now, I realize how rare it is.
So many people are creative souls who want to build, grow, or make art, but mundane life gets in the way. Milestones like elopements give folks official permission to pause, dream, and invest in a deeply personal creative project. I love bringing those visions to life.

Q5-How long will you continue to photograph elopements?

A5-Honestly, I’ve tried to quit a thousand times! Not because I don’t love the work—I adore it—but because running a small business takes a heavy toll. But for now, the benefits far outweigh the cons. I will continue to do this sacred work because I love it, and quite frankly, I’m really good at it.
