A Guide for Engagement Photos
Engagement photos are more than just announcements; they’re a chance to get comfortable behind the camera and build a legacy. With over 10 years of experience, I’ve refined a process that blends classic portraiture with creative storytelling. Here is how to plan a session that feels like you.

Find Your Photographer
Choose a photographer you connect with! Why choose me? I bring a decade of experience and a timeless editing style that blends classic portraiture with creative, unique perspectives. My goal is always for you to have an experience.

Choose a Location
Next, choose a region rather than a specific spot. Whether it’s the rugged beauty of a Hocking Hills forest or the sophistication of an art museum, pick an environment that will inspire you. (And yes, I love to travel!)
Pick a Season, Then a Date
Photographers book up fast! Pick a seasonal vibe first. Then fine-tune the date based on your photographer's availability and knowledge of your location choice. For example, if you want gushing Hocking Hills waterfalls and a bit of greenery, aim for mid-May to early-June.

Yes, Send the Pinterest Board
Visuals are the best way to communicate. Whether you want "Twilight forest," "vintage campsite," or "light & airy spring Cherry Blossoms," your inspo helps me interpret your vision for the session. Most of the time, couples know their vision but they don't know how to relay that information. You might have seen a reel or a post saying that photographers don't like Pinterest Boards. They were probably written by AI and posted by a content creator, not a client-based photographer. I have found that visual mood boards are the best way to communicate ideas. And then I get the fun job of interpreting those ideas during the session.

Trust the Process
Every one of my clients say they feel awkward in photos. And I say, "Sammmmeeee!" It's normal to feel like you're out of your comfort zone. Just show up, be yourselves, and I’ll handle the rest.
Embrace an Activity
Skip the stiff poses and embrace movement through a shared activity. Whether you walk your dog, share a picnic, or practice your first dance, being in motion creates natural candid moments. Focusing on each other instead of the camera takes away the pressure of posing and lets your true chemistry shine through every photo.

Curate Your Outfits
Your outfits should be coordinated and elevated. Choose something that fits the vibe. Check with your photographer about best color palettes for your
After the Session
Expect your gallery in about one month. This allows for careful, timeless editing your memories deserve. Don't let photos sit in storage. Make prints or a magazine to share something tangible with your favorite people. Then leave a Google review. Reviews help small businesses like mine to continue serving clients year after year.
