Cedar Falls Waterfall Elopement in the Hocking Hills | Jen & Kari

Jen & Kari's Hocking Hills Adventure Elopement

When Jen reached out to plan her Hocking Hills adventure elopement, she unknowingly sent me one of my own photos as inspiration. That serendipitous connection led her and Kari to book The Blantons cabin at Bourbon Ridge Retreat, which perfectly overlooked the exact sunlit field from that original image she sent. While getting ready at the cabin, Jen read a touching letter of acceptance from her parents, and Kari opened a surprise wedding watch from Jen. Once both brides were ready, they shared a first look on the patio, setting a beautifully authentic tone for the rest of their elopement.

Bourbon Ridge Suspension Bridge

We started with a trek to Bourbon Ridge Retreat’s suspension bridge. After a bit of off-trail scouting to find the entrance, we faced a humid Ohio summer hike back up the hill—a workout that had Jen jokingly telling their officiant later that I had "tried to kill them," though the stunning gorge photos were entirely worth the sweat.

Intimate Vows at Cedar Falls

We hiked down into the gorge at Cedar Falls for an intimate ceremony. Surrounded by towering hemlocks and massive sandstone cliffs, they exchanged sweet personal vows and shared a traditional handfasting ceremony led by the Uncommon Officiant, Robert, right in front of the rushing waterfall. After exploring the location for some portraits, we headed back to their cabin to wrap up the evening with a champagne pop and a cake cutting.
